Do I have to register on Kenya's e-GP system?

A Treasury notice says supplier registration is mandatory for government procurement from 1 July 2025. Register on the e-GP portal at egpkenya.go.ke.

What is the PPIP in Kenya?

It is the Public Procurement Information Portal at tenders.go.ke. PPRA publishes tender notices and contract awards on it.

How much tender security does a Kenyan tender need?

The Act caps it at 2 percent of the tender value. The tender document states the amount. It may ask for none.

Are some Kenyan tenders reserved for certain groups?

Yes. Planning must reserve at least 30 percent for enterprises owned by women, youth and persons with disabilities. Reserved tenders need only a signed declaration instead of tender security.

Can a foreign company bid on Kenyan government works?

Yes, in international tendering. The documents are in English. Foreign tenderers must source at least 40 percent of their supplies from citizen contractors.

Is the 2015 Act still current?

Parts may have changed. PPRA lists a revised edition of 2022. Check it before you rely on a figure.

Where can I find construction tenders in Kenya?

Kenyan government buyers run their procurement on the national e-GP system at egpkenya.go.ke. A Treasury notice says this applies to all government procurement from 1 July 2025. Tender notices also appear on the Public Procurement Information Portal at tenders.go.ke.

We checked these sources in November 2026. The tender's own documents always decide.

Where are Kenyan construction tenders published?

Section 96 of the Public Procurement and Asset Disposal Act sets the rule. Above set value limits, a buyer advertises on a government portal, on its own website, or in two national dailies. A buyer must also use Kenya's dedicated tenders portal or other electronic adverts that the rules set. It must also post a notice at its own premises.
