Does the World Bank award the contract itself?

Not on project tenders. The borrower awards and signs the contract. The Bank's own corporate purchasing is separate, and there the Bank is the buyer.

Do I need to register with the World Bank to bid?

The Bank's supplier guidance asks firms to register for its own corporate purchasing. It states no such step for project tenders. Follow the notice, which says how to get the documents.

How can I see which contracts are coming?

Read the project's General Procurement Notice and its Procurement Plan. The notice gives the scope and, if known, the planned dates (paragraph 5.22). Plan items can still change.

Can I see who won past contracts?

Yes. Filter Notice Type to Contract Award. Award notices must name the winner and the final price (paragraph 5.94). This helps you see who competes in your market.

Is UNDB still the place to find World Bank tenders?

No. UN Development Business ceased all activity on its website on 31 March 2025. Its closing page sends readers to each institution's own procurement site.

How do I find World Bank tenders?

Search the Procurement Notices page on projects.worldbank.org and set Procurement Group to Works. The buyer is the borrower's implementing agency, not the World Bank. So documents and questions go to the agency named in the notice.

This page uses the Procurement Regulations, seventh edition, September 2025, and sites checked on 1 November 2026. The tender's own documents always decide.
