Are tender alerts free?

Some are. TED gives free access to its notices, and signed-in users can set alerts. UNGM lets you browse free, but its daily e-mail is part of UNGM Pro. Bidligence's alerts come with a free workspace.

Is a paid service better than the official portal?

It can be wider, because it gathers many sources in one place. The official notice still decides the date, documents and rules. BidHits itself tells users to verify details on the official source.

Why did I miss a tender when I have alerts?

Your keywords may not match the notice, or the buyer may have published elsewhere. Add more words for the same work, such as road, highway, paving and drainage.

How often should alerts arrive?

Daily suits a firm that bids often. Weekly can be enough for a firm that bids rarely. TED lets you choose daily, weekly, fortnightly or monthly.

Do alerts cover development bank tenders?

Some do. The World Bank's page offers e-mail alerts, and TendersInfo lists funding-agency tenders. See development bank tenders for where each bank publishes.

What are the best tender alert services for contractors?

The best tender alert service is the one that covers your market. Start with official sources. They include TED in Europe, Find a Tender in the UK and SAM.gov in the United States. Add a paid service such as GlobalTenders or ConstructConnect only if it finds work they miss.
